Milking is undoubtedly the most important part of the day on any dairy farm. It provides the herd owner with an opportunity to inspect individual animals at close quarters. This allows general health assessment, heat detection and identification of problems such as mastitis.

Specialist Relief Milking Service

Farm Relief provides a specialist relief milking service, fully reflecting the extreme importance placed on this activity by milk producers.

Our relief milker's will keep to the same routine followed by the herd owner so as not to disrupt the smooth running of the farm. This includes adhering to traditional milking times for the herds in question and providing the same operator if repeat milkings are required.

They have also been trained to achieve the highest possible standards of hygiene in the milking parlour - a factor of critical importance given the current pricing structure for milk.

Assessing General Health of Cattle

Heat detection, liaising with the local AI Company, checking for mastitis and assessing cows general health are part and parcel of the service available from Farm Relief. All observations are accurately recorded and made available to the herd owner. Associated activities such as the feeding of calves will also be undertaken.

Our relief milker's will collect cows if at grass prior to milking and bring them back once the job has been completed. Your premises will be visited in advance so that the operator can become familiar with all available facilities. Our relief milker's are equally at home working with large and small herds.
