The benefits of cow scanning are many and include:
- Earlier detection of pregnancy. A foetus can be identified as early as 35 days after insemination
- The accurate determination of insemination date this gives a projected calving date if the technique is carried out before the cow reaches the 18th week of pregnancy
- In terms of herd management scanning provides accurate information on which decisions in relation to general herd culling, drying off dates for individual cows and other issues can be taken
- It is a very versatile technique and from the animals point of view, totally stress free
